  ALLEGIANT -- CHAPTER 50: TRIS
CHAPTER 50: TRIS
David is pointing a gun at Tris. He’s stunned that she made it through the Weapons Lab alive. There is no way she should have survived without being inoculated for the death serum.

He admits that he was suspicious of Tris in recent days. She and her friends were acting oddly. He believes that she’s there now become she intends to stop him from resetting Chicago. In reality, Tris is really there to use the gaseous memory serum on the Bureau itself. Once released, the memory serum will act like a virus and spread unimpeded to those who aren’t inoculated.

Tris begins making her move. She accuses David of killing her father and mother. It was the Bureau that started the chain of events that led to their deaths. David is not too thrilled with the accusations. He loved Tris’ mother and didn’t want any harm to come to her.

The accusations distract David just long enough for Tris to get to a keypad. The keypad, an electric lock, keeps the memory serum locked up. Earlier, Matthew revealed the code to release the serum to Tris and Caleb.

David shoots a few bullets at her and she’s hit at least two times. Despite pain and numbness, Tris is able to type in the code and release the memory serum.

After the serum’s release, Tris passes out. She’s losing blood as a result of her gunshot wounds. In a haze, she sees her mother. Her mother assures her that Tris is done and that her friends will be okay without her.
