CHAPTER 24: TRIS
Tris has noticed some kind of relationship brewing between Christina and Uriah, so she questions Christina about it. Christina convinces Tris that there’s nothing going on. They’re both just trying to get over the deaths in their lives.
They go onto talk about the idea that Christina and others like her are classified as being damaged. Tris is having trouble with the idea that there’s something wrong with her friends. She doesn’t think there are any problems with damaged genes. People are just different from each other. Tris thinks that scientists usually find whatever they believe to be true. Scientists, in other words, prove their beliefs to be true.
Tobias enters and Christina leaves to give the two lovebirds their privacy. Tobias is quick to divulge the truth about his trip with Nita. He explains everything down to the fact that Nita told him not to tell Tris. Tobias says that he isn’t going to meet with Nita anymore unless Tris is allowed to join them.
Tris feels jealous towards anything that might be going on between Tobias and Nita. Tobias promises that Tris is his one and only.
