CHAPTER 26: TRIS
Tris begins to roll the truth around in her head. The Bureau and Jeanine collaborated together. The Bureau isn’t as great as it first seemed. In fact, they are a prime reason why her parents were killed.
Tris needs a moment to herself and she runs out to the Bureau’s sculpture. There, Caleb bumps into her. He hints at the idea of forgiveness. Maybe, she should forgive him. This leads to Tris totally beating him up. She is ready to hurt him quite a bit; luckily, she’s stopped by a guard.
The scene transitions to the next day when Tris is at Matthew’s lab. Matthew is describing an airborne version of the memory serum that was developed. During his scientific rant, Tris hints at her distaste towards the Bureau for what they did inside of the city.
The conversation turns to Nita. Tris learns that Matthew is the one who helped her. Later, he learned what the fringe had planned so he stopped aiding her. Apparently, there is an airborne death-serum that Nita wants to get her hands on. With it, the fringe could start major problems.
The two begin rushing to the weapon’s lab when the attack begins. An explosion rocks the air. Tris watches helplessly from a distance as Uriah is injured by rubble. The fringe people are blowing things up from the inside to cause a distraction. Tris doesn’t fall for it. She knows these explosions are meant to distract everyone. She heads to the Weapons Lab with Matthew. She knows that Nita cannot get the airborne death serum or else many people will die.
They encounter the remnants of a gun fight. Injured and dead people are on the ground. Tris takes guns and they proceed. Eventually, they come across a few of the invaders including Nita. They have captured David.
