CHAPTER 47: TRIS
The compound is chaotic as Tris, Caleb, and Matthew make their way to the Weapons Lab. They’re not sure what has happened to Cara. She was supposed to turn off the building’s lights.
To give them a little bit of headway, Tris asks Matthew to distract the guards by shooting a gun. It works, but not for long. After a long sprint, guards come to Tris and Caleb. They order them to stop. Fortunately, the guards are still some distance away.
Before she takes action, Tris looks at her brother and she remembers the good in him. She tells him to give her the explosives. Then, Tris uses Caleb as a hostage, threatening to shoot him unless the guards back off. She whispers her goodbyes to Caleb, shoots at the guards, and takes off to the Weapon’s Lab. Caleb is left behind. She has chosen to become the martyr.
Along the way, she encounters guards and she is able to take them down. Finally, she gets to the lab doors and quickly blows them up. Right afterwards, the guards who were chasing her arrive. Despite shots being blasted at her, she continues with her plan. In a giant leap of faith, she enters the Weapon’s Lab without any form of protection.
