CHAPTER 27: TRIS
Tris watches as the rebels threaten David with their guns. They want him to open up the Weapons Lab. He refuses. Mathew runs off for help.
Tris continues watching as Nita injects David with both truth and fear serum. He begins going crazy. In his hysteria he points at Tris. Tris acts instinctively, shooting several of the rebels. During the chaos, David is able to escape his hostages. He runs towards Tris.
Tris takes a gun and holds it at David’s head. She threatens that she’ll kill him if they try any funny business. They don’t want to kill David since he’s the one who can grant them safe access to the lab.
Calling Tris’ bluff, the rebels shoot at them, hitting David’s knee. They know that Tris wouldn’t kill David. Tris is also hit by a bullet in the arm. She is able to return fire as she gets herself and David to safety. Soon after, reinforcements arrive to help the two of them.
