CHAPTER 36: TRIS
Tris finally arrives back to the Bureau’s compound after venturing out to the fringe. She feels guilt for living this convenient, comfortable life while others on the outside are suffering in such impoverished circumstances.
She bumps into Caleb and Peter. Caleb assumes she’s looking for Tobias and he tells her to go to the genealogy room. The room acts like a giant family tree with family’s records on its walls and panels.
Before Tris takes off, Caleb informs Tris of what has been occurring in Chicago with the Allegiant. Tris isn’t the least bit surprised. The Allegiants are trying to take down Evelyn and the factionless.
Tris makes her way to the genealogy room and it dawns on her that Tobias has become obsessed with his own history and his own bloodline. He doesn’t want to be damaged. Tris also realizes that if she is to be with Tobias, she must be accepting and understanding of him and his actions.
When Tris approaches Tobias in the genealogy room, she explains how they’re good for each other. He keeps her on her toes. Then, she goes in for a kiss.
