Thomas is still overcome with grief when he becomes getting a hold of his emotions. Chuck was a figure of hope for Thomas, but now he was gone. Thomas glances at Teresa and he too sees the sadness in her teary eyes.

In her own weird way, the woman tries to reassure the Gladers that everything happens for a reason.

Shortly afterwards, people rush into the room with old-looking guns. They shoot the woman, and then they shoot at the people behind the windows.

A man directs the Gladers to follow them and run for their lives. The Gladers have no real choice but to obey them. They make their ways outside. The sky is black and raining. It’s an odd, warm rain.

The group runs to a bus and begins to board it. Thomas is near the back of the pack, holding hands with Teresa. It’s taking an eternity to get everybody onboard.

Suddenly, a crazy lady pulls Thomas backwards. She smells terrible and her face is filled with pus. She’s sickly, not well. One of the men who rescued them pulls her off. She warns Thomas not to trust these people who are supposedly going to save them from the Flare. The man pulls the woman far away from the Gladers and warns her not to mess with them or else she’ll be killed.

Soon, the bus is loaded. Thomas and Teresa are, understandably, confused.

The sickly, crazy lady runs to the front of the bus only to be hit and run over by it as it plows forward.
