The Grievers turn off immediately. They fall to the ground as if they’re dead. Thomas declares Chuck a hero.

Soon after, some of the boys begin to enter through the Griever Hole. Minho comes first and he describes the horrible scene back at the Maze. The Grievers had all shut down just like the ones in the room. Luckily, eighteen of them survived.

The group goes forward into the door that opened. It leads to a chute, a slide, which goes downwards. They all slide down it. The oily, goopy chute twists and turns for what seems like forever. Finally, they make it into a room.

The place is huge. It’s filled with computers, machines, and coffin-like items. More importantly, the place is lined by windows. From behind the windows, pale, ghost-like people stare at them.
