The Gathering takes place in a dull room in the Homestead. The Keepers are all gathered there, seated in a circle with Thomas in the middle. Gally tries to speak out of turn, but Newt puts him in his place and tells him to only talk when asked to.

Soon, they Keepers begin to speak one by one to declare what they think should be done with Thomas. Zart isn’t sure what should be done: on one hand Thomas broke the rules, but on the other hand he should be commended after doing the impossible. Frypan thinks this Gathering is a waste of time and Thomas should just become one of the council members. An unfamiliar Keeper thinks Thomas should be praised. Winston thinks he should be locked up for a week.

After a few more Keepers speak, the group gets to hear Gally’s absurd idea. Gally hypothesizes that Thomas is a spy from the outside who’s been sent inside to gain admiration. It’s all a ploy, Gally thinks, that’s been set up by the people from the outside.

Last but not least, Minho is left to speak. Minho was so impressed by Thomas’ heroics inside the Maze that he’s willing to step down from his position and let Thomas take over for him.
