Minho is ready to take the people behind the windows down. He knows what they, the Creators, have put them through.

Around them, an alarm begins to ring. The group looks at Thomas for help figuring out their next step.

Thomas doesn’t have to figure anything out, since two people begin to approach them. One of the people is an adult woman and the other is none other than Gally. She admits that she didn’t expect them to do so well for so long in the Maze.

Minho snaps at the woman. He’s, of course, super upset after all they’ve been through. She says that she would have expected more restraint and calm after what they went through. She goes onto say that in the future, they’ll thank her for what they’ve done in the Glades and in the Maze. Lastly, she says that there’s one more Variable.

Thomas tries to make conversation with Gally. Gally says that he’s being controlled. Thomas remembers how Alby was also controlled after the Changing. Suddenly, Gally throws a knife straight at Thomas. Thomas can’t get himself to move.

Luckily, Chuck comes along and darts in front of Thomas. He takes the blade for him, right in the chest. Chuck falls to the ground, dying. With his final breaths, he asks that Thomas find his mom for him.

Thomas loses it. He darts at Gally and starts beating him to a bloody pulp. Soon after, he’s pulled away from Gally by Newt and Minho.

Next, Thomas rushes back to Chuck. He’s so sad that he won’t be able to fulfill the promise he made to Chuck. He promised to take him to people who cared about him. Thomas begins to loudly sob and weep.
