Faced with three Grievers ahead and one still pursuing him from behind, Thomas decides to do the unthinkable. He changes direction and charges at the first Griever. Just as they’re about to hit each other, Thomas jukes it by charging to the side. Suddenly, he’s heading back in the direction from which he came. Unfortunately, now all the Grievers are chasing him.

Luckily, he’s pulled off to the side by Minho. Minho has Thomas follow him, all the while they’re still being chased by the predatory monsters. Minho has a plan and Thomas has no choice but to follow his lead.

The two boys run to an area that leads to the Cliff. Minho warns Thomas that boys have fallen victim of the Cliff before, so he must be careful. The sight of the edge is perplexing to Thomas. He doesn’t get how this Maze was constructed in this place. It’s as if they’re way up in the sky looking down into nothing.

Minho brings Thomas out of his thoughts. He must be ready for the approaching Grievers. The two boys stand side by side as the monsters approach. On Minho’s word, they each jump to the side as most of the Grievers fall one by one. All but the last Griever were going too fast to stop in time. The fourth Griever has caught itself with its metal appendages just before its fall. Luckily, Minho and Thomas are able to quickly band together to nudge the creature down to its doom.
