Thomas chases the beetle blade into the forest. It has a red light that makes it easy to follow. Unfortunately, the creature gets away.

Then, Thomas hears something in the distance. He calls out to it, thinking it might be another person. As he approaches the scurrying sound, he finds himself in the graveyard. There, he finds white, wooden crosses in the ground with the names of boys written on them.

One grave stands out. It has a window that allows Thomas to peer inside. He looks and finds the remains of half a body. Chuck had told him about the kid who tried to descend down the Box hole only to be cut in half; they made his remains visible so that the same mistake wouldn’t be repeated.

Suddenly, Thomas hears somebody approaching at a fast pace. It’s another boy who is on top of Thomas in a rush. The skinny boy bites at Thomas. Thomas is able to push him off and catch a good glimpse of who it is. It’s none other than the sick boy that Thomas had seen earlier, Ben.
