Thomas, Minho, and Newt make their way to the Weapons Room. Once there, Minho reveals a secret closet where the maps are all hidden. He pulls them out.

Thomas explains his reasoning. He thinks that they should compare all the sections to each other. Previously, each Runner had focused on comparing the daily changes made to their one section only. Minho thinks Thomas’ theory won’t reveal anything new, since they’ve already tried what he’s doing a while back. Still, Thomas proceeds with his plan.

Thomas has them gather wax paper, cutting utensils, and writing utensils. He has Minho cut out a bunch of squares from the wax paper. Minho thinks it’s a waste of time, but Thomas convinces him that it might be worth their while.

Next, the group begins tracing the most recent maps onto the see-through wax paper. The task is daunting and time-consuming. Finally, Newt has had enough and he wants Thomas to work whatever magic he has planned.

Thomas takes eight maps from one day and he begins piling them up on top of each other. Section one remains at the very top, followed by section two, and so on until section eight; it’s like a map sandwich. Since the wax paper is see-through, the maps work in conjunction with each other to reveal a letter F.
