Later that evening, Alby arrives to free Thomas from the Slammer. Thomas can’t get over how better Alby looks now. The serum must have done wonders in healing him.

Thomas questions Alby on what he remembered after the Changing. Alby will only reveal that he saw Thomas with the Creators. He also mentions how he remembers growing up, but how terrible things got at one point. He doesn’t want to try strangling himself, so he leaves it at that.

Thomas has a great meal during dinner. Minho sits with him and begins giving him some tidbits about being a Runner.

That night, Thomas reflects upon how perfect of weather the Glade always seems to have. He also thinks about the enormity of the Maze.

Before falling asleep, Thomas promises himself that he won’t ever give up trying to get through the Maze and get back home. The word “tomorrow” echoes through his mind since tomorrow is when he will become a Runner.
