Thomas cannot stand the weirdness of the girls’ voice in her head. He runs out to the Deadhead forest to get away from her. Unfortunately, she finds him there.

Teresa is now awake and somehow she found him in the forest. She hopes that Thomas can remember her, but his mind draws a blank. Teresa now is also short on memories. She recognizes Thomas, even calling him by a nickname (Tom), but she can’t remember much of anything else.

Thomas presses for answers. He wants to know how she’s able to speak to him telepathically, and what the note that she came in meant (it said that there wouldn’t be any others after her). She’s clueless and has no answers.

One odd thing that she has to share with Thomas is a not she wrote on herself. It reads, “Wicked is good.” She says she wrote it right when she woke up. Now, she hasn’t a clue what it’s referring to. Thomas explains the beetle blades to her.

Their conversation is interrupted by a group of boys who finally find her. Alby and Newt are among the boys. Alby, frustrated by all the odd things going on, demands answers from Thomas. He thinks Thomas knows more than he’s revealed to them.

Alby, then, begins questioning the girl. Alby is beyond angry. Teresa admits that she started something, but she doesn’t know what it is or how she did it. Thomas questions Alby, asking why he’s so upset. It’s then that Alby reveals a jaw-dropper: the Maze’s Doors did not close that evening.
