 INSURGENT -- CHAPTER 46
Tris realizes how pointless everything she did to get there was. Now, she is deemed a traitor not just be Tori but also by Uriah and Tobias who enter the lab soon after. Tris tries to plead with Tobias to trust her and hear her out. Tobias doesn’t give Tris a chance to defend herself. Before reaching Tris, he found Marcus and he now knows that Tris was working with him all along.

Tris is led downstairs to a room filled with Candor. They are the same Candor who were brainwashed by the Erudites to help protect their headquarters. Among the Candors are Peter and Peter’s mother. Uriah explains that Peter wasn’t part of the initial assault; he only came when the attack was over.

Tris is escorted to the main lobby where other prisoners are being held. Among them she finds Christina and Cara. They briefly discuss how their mission failed. They also wonder about the whereabouts of Marcus. Marcus is nowhere to be seen.

Tobias, eventually, enters the room and he goes straight to Caleb. Caleb is asked to turn off the simulation room that protects Jeanine’s lab. The factionless can’t make it past this security system. Tris knows that the factionless intend on getting rid of all the Erudite data.

The scene returns to Tris and Christina who discuss Jeanine’s security system. Then, the two girls wonder what the Dauntless and the factionless will do to them.

Their thoughts are interrupted by the arrival of Lynn. She’s carried in on a stretcher and Uriah is quick to run to her. Lynn is gravely wounded. Uriah finds a doctor among the captured, but the doctor isn’t able to do anything for Lynn. The doctor explains that she could have saved Lynn if the factionless hadn’t destroyed the hospitals in the building.

Lynn begins to have one final conversation with Uriah. Tris is able to reach her side to listen. Lynn describes how she also loved Marlene. Uriah takes it as if she loved Marlene like a friend, but Lynn tries to describe that she loved Marlene more than a friend. This last revelation is the last thing that Lynn utters before she passes.
