 INSURGENT -- CHAPTER 20
Tris and the others wait in the cafeteria until the meeting time comes along. Tobias has to deal with put-downs from passer-byers as he eats. They call him a coward.

Tobias, unexpectedly, gets up and rushes towards someone. Tris follows him. Soon, Tris figures out that Tobias has his eyes set on his father. Tobias begins an onslaught on his father. At one point, when Marcus is on the ground, Tobias removes his belt to hit him just as Marcus use to do to him. With laughter coming from around them, Tris intervenes and tries to stop Tobias. Tobias’ final move is to pull out his mom’s wedding band and to throw it at his father.

Tobias and Tris then walk towards an elevator. Tris isn’t sure how to speak to Tobias. Tobias remarks on how his father once did the same thing to him with a belt. Tris doesn’t say much; however, she thinks about how Tobias must have had this whole scene already planned out.

When the elevator reaches their floor, Tobias gets in and Tris goes back to Marcus. She follows him into a bathroom. Tris makes it clear to Marcus that she knows he has something planned for Jeannine and that she is probably one of the only reliable people around who can help him.
