 INSURGENT -- CHAPTER 34
Tris is escorted back to her room by Peter. There, she thinks about her parents. She recalls how fond her father was of her mother. He truly loved her. Tris begins to cry at the recollection of her parents.

Tris’ moment of grief is interrupted by Peter. He has come to tell her that her execution has been bumped up to 8 A.M. the next day. Before he leaves the room, Peter tells Tris the time, 9:24. Tris quietly admires this small, defiant act by Peter.

Tris decides that she will view her death like the Abnegation do. She apparently believes that something will come after death. She finds comfort in knowing that the afterlife will give her the possibility to be more reformed than she was in this life.
