Divergent
 by Veronica Roth
  DIVERGENT -- CHAPTER 39
Tobias hesitates in shooting Tris. She speaks out to him again. Suddenly, he drops his weapon and embraces Tris. Her voice helped him to break free from his hypnotic trance.

Their attention quickly turns to one of the computer screens. There, they notice Marcus, Peter, and Caleb down where Tris left them. They have been discovered and Dauntless soldiers are holding guns at them.

Tobias rushes to the computer screen, makes some adjustments in the program, and forces the soldiers to come back to their senses. To make sure the soldiers don’t turn back into zombies, Tobias opens up the computer to remove the hard drive.

Meanwhile, Tris looks at other screens that show the Abnegation streets where Dauntless soldiers are. The soldiers there have started shooting at other Dauntless, and people are running around like crazy.

Tobias and Tris are quick to move out of the control room. Tris is shaken up when she sees her father’s lifeless body.

Before long, they reach the others. Tobias is shocked to see his father, Marcus. Marcus hugs Tobias, while Tris tries to pull him off of him. She knows the two have issues.

The reunion is short-lived. They must get out of the glass building, and they must move to the train tracks. On their way to the tracks Tris apologizes to Tobias for interfering with his reunion with his father. He understands her reasoning.

The group must head out of town towards the Amity headquarters. As they wait for a train, Tris ponders her fate. She is stuck with people that she dislikes, Marcus and Peter; and she has left behind people she loved, her mother and father.

Once aboard the train, Tris and Tobias embrace each other in their seats. Tris vents to Tobias about losing her parents. Tobias comforts her, and even admits that he has fallen in love with her. They kiss.

Before she falls to sleep, Tris looks at the hard drive that they now possess. She is weary of what Marcus might do with it, so she knows she must keep it safe.

Before dozing off, Tris also ponders her own fate now that she doesn’t have a home with the Abnegation or the Dauntless.
