  CATCHING FIRE -- CHAPTER 12
As Katniss continues on her road to recovery, she longs to get more insight on District Thirteen. She wonders what is really hiding there.

One morning, Katniss finds that her prep team has arrived to help her out with her bridal pictures. The pictures will be taken soon and they have come early to help her get ready for it.

As they get her ready, Octavia mentions how the Capitol hasn’t had seafood in recent days because of the bad weather impacting District Four. Dying for news of rebellion, Katniss asks her prep team what other items the Capitol has been short on. From their knowledge Katniss infers that District Three, District Four, and District Eight are all revolting against the Capitol. Goods are not coming in from these areas probably because of their uprisings.

Cinna arrives and helps to conceal the whip mark on Katniss’ face. Effie is there to help out too. The ever so punctual Effie’s job is to keep everything running right on schedule. The schedule proceeds and the photo shoot quickly starts and then ends.

The next day, Katniss tries to find Peeta or Haymitch. She wants to talk about her experience in the forest and about her curiosity about District Thirteen. She finally gets to Haymitch’s house and speaks to him. He reveals his knowledge of possible rebellions in District Seven and District Eleven. He also mentions that the only way that District Twelve would be successful in a rebellion is if everybody joined the revolt. Their district is too small to rebel without majority support.

That evening, everybody is mandated to watch Katniss’ photo shoot on television. Cinna is on television with Caesar Flickerman, and they go over Katniss’ possible wedding dresses. The people of the Capitol have been voting on their favorite dresses and only six possible dresses remain.

Suddenly, the topic of the television show turns from the upcoming wedding to the Quarter Quell. President Snow appears and goes over why they have the Hunger Games and the Quarter Quells (to remind people of the Dark Days when the districts rebelled).

President Snow finally divulges some information about the past Quarter Quells and the upcoming Quarter Quell. During the first Quarter Quell, each district was forced to vote upon who entered the competition; during the second Quarter Quell, the number of each district’s tributes doubled; and now, during the third Quarter Quell, the contestants will be chosen from those people who survived the Hunger Games (a male and female victor from each district).

After President Snow makes his shocking announcement, it takes Katniss a while to realize that she is obliged to fight in the next Quarter Quell.
