The group quickly looks around the apartment they have just entered to make sure they’re alone. Then, they notice that the streets outside are busy and full of people following their normal routine. The group chooses to go in stealthily towards President Snow’s home.

They scour the apartment and gather clothing. They dress up and use makeup and wigs to conceal their identities. Soon enough, they’re on their way down the street amidst the other people.

Cressida leads the way towards a place she knows. She leads the squad into an undergarment store. There, she begins to talk to the store clerk. Katniss remarks to herself on how the plastic surgeries that the store clerk has undergone has made her look terrible.

The terrible looking clerk, fortunately, is a former stylist who Plutarch identified to Cressida as an ally. Her name is Tigris. Tigris leads the group to a hidden set of stairs in the back. The stairs take them to a cellar where they can hide.

The group finally is able to rest. Before Katniss takes time to unwind, she first takes a moment to clean and stitch a wound Gale has received on his neck. Then, she tends to Peeta’s wounds. He’s been using his handcuffs to tear at his skin. He uses the pain to gather his senses when necessary.

Katniss falls asleep and dreams of being with Effie. In the dream, they’re on the way home with Effie as focused as ever on staying on schedule. Her schedule, though, is constantly affected by intermittent disruptions that make it impossible to get home.

Katniss awakens to be confronted by her guilt. She believes that her squad members have entered a suicide mission. She lied to them earlier, telling them that Coin sent her to assassinate Snow. Now, the weight of that lie is plaguing her.

She takes a moment to tell the group of her lie. The group lets her know that they knew it was a lie all along. They continue by trying to coax her into believing that they went along with her lie because they have faith in her ability to take out Snow. Katniss doesn’t buy into their reasoning. Peeta, then, speaks up and agrees with the others. With his words, Katniss’ faith in herself is reborn.

A new plan is born: they will dress up like the normal Capitol folk and they will walk a short distance to Snow’s home. The only dilemma now is how to get inside of Snow’s heavily defended mansion.

Before a solution can be devised, Tigris closes her shop for the day and brings the group food. As they eat, they are able to watch television in the shop. They learn that the Capitol has become aware of their survival. The Capitol is now out to find them.

The group returns to their hiding spot in the confines of the store. Katniss falls asleep and awakens to hear Peeta and Gale having a friendly conversation. They talk about Katniss’ feelings towards the both of them. They know that if they pull through, Katniss will probably try to form a relationship with one of them.
